Six-Month Mentoring Program:
Ok, here’s how the program works:
The program is all about you. When we first start, I will have you tell me your goals. The goals you would like to have achieved when the six months is over. These goals can encompass all areas of photography, from self-publishing a book of your work, to marketing your photos, to creating a portfolio/website, to entering competitions, to shooting nature, or in studio, to just being a very good shooter…etc, etc.
Whatever goals you create for yourself, those are the goals we’ll work on. I’ll give you a variety of assignments that will either have a direct correlation to a particular goal, or just to keep your ‘eye’ fine-tuned. Some will be a re-kindling of the ‘elements’ on your ‘artist Palette’ (my courses at the BPSOP), and some will be new ones.
There is no timeline for you to submit your photos. It’s at your pace. When you have several photos from an assignment, you’ll create a folder and by using Dropbox you’ll be able to send them to me. You’ll then send me an e-mail telling me you’re ready to Skype.
We’ll Skype once a week, or whenever you can. If your work keeps you busy, then when you’re available we can Skype. I’m also available (sometimes) on the weekends if that’s what you require.
When we Skype, I’ll share the screen with you so we can talk about each one of your photos. I’ll make comments on each one and sometimes have you go back (if possible) and re-shoot it. Since this a different program from the BPSOP, I’ll help you with any post-processing ideas. If you’re not using Photoshop, I’ll encourage it and will direct you to a great learning source.
I’m not against using Photoshop and I use it to some degree all the time. I prefer the challenge of getting it right the first time…in the camera. The key in my opinion is to make it look like you didn’t do anything.
I would love to have you onboard and after six months mentoring I can safely say that you’ll never look back at the way you were, the way you saw things, and your new portfolio will be the proof.
